My friend Mel was eating a fish sandwich at McDonald’s when it happened. A woman watching him gave him a wide smile. On his way out, he stopped to thank the woman for cheering him up on a down day. She asked if she could pray for him. Now Mel is indeed a praying man. A retired preacher even. But pray in a McDonald’s? With a stranger? He suspected this woman’s church was different from his own. Nevertheless, he bowed his head. She prayed. The next Sunday, Mel shared this story with our congregation. Under it, we could feel politics dissolve and real faith emerge – faith in a God of love.

I fear for democracy. I want a kinder world for our children and grandchildren. Good stories, wherein differences dissolve, or become luminous, under the influence of human kindness, do more to prevent wars and to build up peace, than stockpiles of weapons. But for more of them to happen, we must look for and celebrate the little stories around us.
Will you help? If you have a good peace story to share, I’d love to hear it! Out of the many small stories comes the biggest and best one of all: love wins.

What we want:
· We want school board members who believe in public education, who focus on learning, and who bring creative problem-solving ideas to the table.
· We want enthusiasm, energy, and empathy for ALL the students of "dear old Warwick." (Some of us can still sing the alma mater!)
· We value school board candidates who are parents of WSD students, who have experience as educators, who are mental and physical health professionals, and who are community leaders accustomed to working within budgets.
