This image developed from multiple conversations in our group.
We chose the elephant as our guiding image after reading Grandma Elephant's in Charge by Martin Jenkins. Grandma elephants guide the herd. Their memories are essential to the health and safety of all.
One of our own grandmas is an artist - Margaret Thorn. It happens that she LOVES elephants.
What can you notice about her water color painting? It's rainbow colored, so warm and inviting. And in case you don't get the subtler colors, there are those painted rainbow toenails! This modern grandma has seen a lot, traveled a lot, and has a lot of wisdom to impart.
The baby is looking lovingly at the grandma, and listening carefully to the important book about acceptance. Her ears are wide open to the message of love.
